Enable Stripe payments on your booking website

Collect deposits, balances and appointment payments by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay with Kraft Pay, with no API keys to manage.

Kraft Pay is built on Stripe Connect Express: a Stripe account is created in your name and linked directly to your bank account. There are no API keys to copy and no webhooks to configure. Payments from your guests and clients land in your Stripe account, then are paid out to your bank according to Stripe's payout schedule.

Before you start

  • Your site must be connected to the platform. See Install and connect Kraft Booking.
  • Have an ID document, your IBAN and, where applicable, your business registration number (SIREN/SIRET) to hand. Stripe needs them to verify your identity, as any payment institution would.

Start the activation

You can start from WordPress or from your owner account; the result is the same.

From the plugin

  1. Open Kraft Booking › Kraft GDA: the "Online payments" card shows the state of your payments.
  2. Click Enable payments.
  3. You are redirected to the Stripe onboarding form.

From the owner account

  1. Sign in to your Kraft GDA account, go to My sites, then click Details next to the site in question.
  2. In the "Kraft Pay payments" card, click Enable payments.

Fill in the Stripe form

Stripe asks you, in turn, for:

  1. Your business type (individual, sole trader, company).
  2. Your contact details and identity.
  3. Your bank account (IBAN) to receive payouts.
  4. ID verification, if required.

At the end, you are automatically sent back to your site. The plugin queries Stripe and shows the new status.

You can leave the form and come back to it later: click "Resume activation" in Kraft Booking › Kraft GDA, or "Complete Stripe activation" in your owner account. Stripe picks up where you left off.

Understanding the payment status

Status (owner account)In WordPress ("Online payments" card)MeaningWhat to do
Not enabledTo activateNo Stripe account has been created yet.Click "Enable payments".
In progressVerification in progressThe account exists but Stripe is waiting for or checking information."Resume activation" to complete the missing items.
ActivePayments activeCharges are authorized.Set your booking module to online payment ("Payment" or "Payment mode" option).
RestrictedAction requiredStripe needs additional information before authorizing payments."Complete my file" and provide the requested items.

The plugin refreshes the status automatically. In your owner account, the Refresh status button on the site page also forces an update.

Accepted payment methods

As soon as the status is Active, the payment page offers:

  • bank cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and local cards depending on the country);
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay on compatible devices;
  • 3-D Secure strong authentication whenever the payer's bank requires it.

The payment page is hosted by Stripe: no card data ever passes through your WordPress site.

Test mode and live mode

While the platform is being set up, Kraft GDA may run in test mode: payments are simulated with dummy cards and no money changes hands. During the beta, payments run in test mode until the official launch, as stated on the "Downloads" page of your owner account; in "Revenue and commissions", test payments are listed under the "Test" tab. In live mode, charges are actually debited and paid out to your bank account.

You never have to switch between modes yourself: this configuration is managed by the platform.

When Stripe asks for additional documents

It is common for Stripe to request supporting documents after a few payments (ID, proof of address, company registration extract, etc.). In that case:

  1. The status changes to In progress or Restricted ("Verification in progress" or "Action required" in WordPress), and the plugin shows the information requested.
  2. Click Complete my file in Kraft Booking › Kraft GDA, or Stripe Dashboard on the site page of your owner account: you access your Stripe Express dashboard without any additional password.
  3. Upload the requested documents. Stripe usually reviews them within a few business days.
  4. The status returns to Active automatically.

Bookings that have already been paid are not affected; only new charges or payouts may be temporarily suspended.

Payouts to your bank account

Stripe groups your charges and transfers them to the IBAN you provided according to its standard payout schedule. You can view the details of each transfer from the Stripe Dashboard. Kraft service fees, paid by the guest on top of your rate, are collected at source: you receive your full rate, minus Stripe processing fees. See The 0.9% service fee.

Key points

  • A single button, Enable payments (Kraft Booking › Kraft GDA or owner account), is all it takes: no API keys to handle.
  • Once payments are active, set your booking module to online payment.
  • If the status is In progress or Restricted, provide the documents through "Complete my file" or the Stripe Dashboard.
  • Payouts arrive on your IBAN: your full rate, minus Stripe fees; service fees are paid by the guest.
