Length-of-stay discount or weekly price: how do you reward longer stays?

Kraft Booking rewards longer stays with a percentage discount from a set number of nights; a "weekly price" is obtained with a tier from 7 nights. Worked examples to help you choose.

To encourage longer stays, GDA Kraft Booking, the booking plugin published by Global Digital Agency, offers length-of-stay discounts: a percentage discount applied automatically from a number of nights you choose. There is no separate flat "weekly price", but you get the same effect with a tier from 7 nights calculated so that the week costs the amount you want. The first approach suits rentals designed around the week (holiday cottages, holiday homes); a longer tier suits stays of variable length (apartments, business stays, mid-term stays).

Why reward longer stays?

A long stay costs less per night to run: a single departure clean, a single check-in, less linen to change, fewer empty nights between two bookings. Part of these savings can be passed on to the guest as a discount, without lowering your net revenue per night. The cost reasoning is detailed in How do you set your prices?.

What is the difference between the two tools?

Discounts are set per accommodation in Kraft Booking › Promotions, "Length-of-stay discounts" panel: up to 3 tiers "From (nights)" and "Discount (%)", then "Save". Kraft Console › "Rates", "Long-stay discounts" section, allows up to 5 tiers. The longest tier reached applies to the price of the nights; tiers do not add up. How the pricing engine works is described in Seasons and rates.

Worked examples

The examples are fictional, for a holiday cottage whose seasonal rate is €150 per night.

With a weekly price of €900

For 7 nights to cost about €900 instead of €1,050, create a tier "From (nights)" 7 with a "Discount (%)" of 14.29.

StayCalculationPrice
5 nights5 × €150€750
7 nights7 × €150 − 14.29%€899.95 (instead of €1,050)
9 nights9 × €150 − 14.29%€1,157.08 (instead of €1,350)

The guest saves about €150 from the 7th night, the equivalent of one free night. Unlike a flat rate, the discount keeps applying to the following nights.

With a 10% discount from 14 nights

StayCalculationPrice
10 nights10 × €150€1,500
14 nights14 × €150 − 10%€1,890 (instead of €2,100)
21 nights21 × €150 − 10%€2,835 (instead of €3,150)

A threshold effect to watch

With a "weekly price", a 6-night stay (€900 at €150 a night) costs about the same as a 7-night stay with the discount (€899.95). Many guests will then take the 7th night: that is often the intended effect. If not, reduce the percentage, or set a minimum stay of 7 nights on the season concerned (see Minimum stay and orphan nights).

How do you choose the right level of discount?

A simple three-step method:

  1. Estimate the real savings of a long stay: cleans and check-ins avoided, empty nights avoided between two short stays.
  2. Pass on part of these savings to the guest: the discount should not exceed what the long stay earns you, except in low season when a night sold is better than an empty night.
  3. Take the seasons into account: tiers apply all year round for the accommodation; to differentiate, adjust the price of each season instead (an attractive week in June or September, a price closer to the normal rate in August if your weeks sell themselves).

Should you combine the two?

Yes, for example a tier from 7 nights and a larger tier from 28 nights for stays of several weeks: only the longest tier reached applies. Before publishing, use the "Quote simulator" in Kraft Console › "Rates" to check the price for 6, 7, 13, 14 and 21 nights, so you can spot any threshold effect. A promo code can still be combined with the discount: if you also distribute promo codes, test these combinations too (see Promo codes for vacation rentals).

Do very long stays have limits?

Yes, in France. According to Service Public, the same guest cannot rent a furnished tourist accommodation for more than 90 consecutive days per calendar year (service-public.gouv.fr/particuliers/vosdroits/F2043, consulted on 12 October 2026). Beyond that, the stay is no longer a short-term holiday let and other rules apply. If needed, set a maximum stay (the rate plan's "Maximum" field).

Frequently asked questions

Does the weekly price apply to 14 nights?

Yes: a tier from 7 nights applies to every night of the stay, including beyond 7. To reward stays of two weeks or more further, add a tier from 14 nights with a higher percentage, and check the result in the simulator.

Can I have a different weekly price depending on the season?

Not directly: length-of-stay discounts are defined per accommodation, for the whole year. As the percentage applies to the price of each season's nights, a week naturally costs less in low season than in high season.

Does the discount apply to extras?

No. Discounts apply to the price of the nights. Extra-guest supplements and services (cleaning, linen, breakfast) are then added according to their own calculation mode, and the tourist tax is calculated separately.

Should I show the discount on the property page?

Yes, it is recommended: a mention such as "€900 per week" or "-10% from 14 nights" in the description encourages guests to stay longer. The guest sees the discount as soon as they choose their dates, then the exact breakdown in the summary before paying.
