How do you create a booking website for your B&B?

For a B&B, the booking website must handle several rooms, each with its own price and calendar, offer a search by dates and number of guests, include breakfast, which is part of the offer, and, in France, apply the tourist tax specific to chambres d'hôtes. With GDA Kraft Booking, each room is created as an accommodation; visitors then see the rooms free for their dates and book the one that suits them. This article describes a typical setup and the rules to know.

What is a B&B (chambre d'hôtes) under French law?

This section applies in France only. Article L324-3 of the French Tourism Code defines chambres d'hôtes as furnished rooms located in the owner's home, rented to tourists for payment for one or more nights, together with services. The regulatory part specifies that the activity consists of providing the night and breakfast together, up to a limit of five rooms and fifteen people, with the owner welcoming guests. The rental must be declared in advance to the town hall (article L324-4).

Beyond these thresholds, or without the owner welcoming guests, the “chambres d'hôtes” designation no longer applies: find out which regime your business falls under. How do you organise the rooms in GDA Kraft Booking?

Each room is a separate accommodation in Kraft Booking › Accommodations, with its own rate, seasons, capacity and calendar. A fictitious example of a four-room country guest house:

For the home page, combine two elements, available in Gutenberg, Elementor and Divi 5:

• the Search (“Availability search”): visitors enter their dates and number of guests;
• the Results (“Search results”): the list of rooms available for those dates, with their price.

There is no “list of all rooms” element: for a presentation grid, use your builder's blocks with a link to each room's page.

How do you handle breakfast?

As French regulations describe a chambre d'hôtes as providing the night and breakfast together, the simplest and clearest approach is to include breakfast in the nightly price and say so plainly: “€95 per night for two, breakfast included”. This is also the usual expectation for a B&B elsewhere.

If you prefer to show breakfast on a separate line, use a mandatory service (the form's “Services” tab, “Mandatory” box), calculated “per person per night” (a calculation offered in Kraft Console › “Rates” › “Fees & taxes”; the admin's “Services” tab offers “Per stay”, “Per night”, “Per guest” and “Percentage”). What tourist tax applies to a B&B?

This section applies in France only. The 2026 national scale sets a rate for chambres d'hôtes of between €0.20 and €0.80 per person per night, set by your municipality (Service Public scale, in French, checked by the site on 1 January 2026, consulted on 12 October 2026). On each room's “Services” tab, “Tourist tax” panel, enter this rate in “Amount / person / night” and tick “Exempt children” if your municipality exempts them.

Fictitious example: a couple and a child, 3 nights in the Orchard suite, municipal rate of €0.70. Tax due: 2 adults × 3 nights × €0.70 = €4.20, as the child is exempt. Outside France, whether a tourist tax applies and how it is calculated depend on the country and the municipality: check with your local authority.

Which payment approach suits short stays?

B&B stays are often short and booked at short notice. Two options:

• booking requests without online payment: you confirm each request and the guest pays on site or by bank transfer;
• online payment of the full amount or a deposit, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, once Kraft Pay is enabled. The service fee is 0.9%, reduced to 0.45% until 30 June 2027, paid by the guest; Stripe's fees come on top.

For one or two nights, collecting the full amount at booking saves you from following up a balance. For a stay booked well in advance, a deposit remains more comfortable (see Take a deposit online).

Can you also offer treatments or workshops?

Yes. GDA Kraft Booking, the plugin published by Global Digital Agency, also offers an appointment mode (included in the plugin, to be enabled in Settings, “Booking type”: “Both”): a massage, a cookery class or a guided walk can be booked for a time slot, on the same site as the rooms. Frequently asked questions

Can each room have its own iCal calendar?

Yes. As each room is an accommodation, it has its own “Syncs” tab, with its own “Outgoing feed” link and imported feeds. If a room is listed on a platform, sync it individually.

How many rooms can I manage?

The plugin does not limit the number of accommodations. In France, the limit is regulatory: beyond five rooms or fifteen people, the business no longer falls under the chambres d'hôtes regime.

Can breakfast be optional?

French regulations describe a chambre d'hôtes as providing the night and breakfast together. If you want to make it optional in France, first check with your town hall or a professional body that your business still falls under this regime. Elsewhere, check the local rules.

Does a B&B's tourist tax in France depend on the price?

No. In France, chambres d'hôtes have their own category in the scale, with a fixed amount per person per night of between €0.20 and €0.80 in 2026, whatever the nightly price.
